VRDigs ownership has strong ties to military service and we intend to continue to give back to this specific group of Americans - who account for a large chunk of the Blue-collar working class.
These disciplined, hard-working folks tend to make-up a large portion of local service-based workforces.
While the primary beneficiary of this program aims to be recently separated veterans (those that are within 1 year of transitioning to the civilian workforce) - we are glad to provide free consultation to any veteran interested in learning more about professional landscaping. We remain committed to providing veteran landscapers with resources either directly from us - or through connections within our network of Green Industry Professionals.
We will always be committed to helping veterans in their pursuit of owning and operating a successful American landscaping company. However, some of the details of this program are still under development.
We will continue to update this page and provide additional details about the program as we evolve and build upon feedback received from veteran participants and other military veteran serving organizations.
While there are certainly financial rewards for successful landscaping pros - there are therapeutic benefits to being outdoors and interacting with nature as part of your daily routine.
Many operational skills you learned in training will transfer from your military career to a career as a landscaper. Project management, equipment maintenance, and operational risk management are just a few of the key attributes you will immediately be able to use in the field as a landscaper.
We will continue to share stories of successful military vets turned landscapers and share stories like these in our blog or on our Youtube channel
There are new government programs arising all the time and resources like the Veteran Rapid Retraining Assistance Program (VRRAP) for Educational Institutions can help you get landscaping specific training or certification.
One example of a school program that you might consider using your GI Bill for is one of San Joaquin Delta College Agriculture Programs. Certificate specialization options include:
VRDigs also is continuously building our own educational resource network by partnering with targeted industry relevant training as well. While you can't use your GI Bill for these types of courses, the niche material may be a perfect fit for your needs depending on your experience level and the services you intend to provide your customers.
One familiar course format we feature through our affiliate partnership is Yard Care Bootcamp for DIY Lawn Care.
